Tesseron Royal Blend was originally commissioned for a royal family. The selection from extremely old Grande Champagne cognacs was chosen from the Tesseron family private collection. Chosen for their exceptional fruity and floral aromas, this cognac is a blend of cognacs crafted from Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes, all of which have been aged for a minimum of 2 generations.

Royal Blend is matured for 2 months in Limousin oak before spending around 50 years in Tierçons barrels that are them- selves 50-60 years old (making them some of the oldest and most precious barrels in cognac) which are used exclusively for the rarest cognacs. This extraordinary blend, aged for two generations, is bottled in hand-blown glass created by a master glassblower and faithful replicas of the ones found in the family's treasured Paradis cellar. Only 1,000 bottles of Royal Blend were produced for the world.

About Tesseron Cognac

Tesseron Cognac was founded in 1905 by Abel Tesseron. During this time the cognac house was split between two estates, one situated in the Grande Champagne area (Boneuil) and the other in Petite Champagne (Saint-Surin). The eaux-de-vie was stocked and carefully conserved in a twelfth-century crypt. Treasured amongst a small circle of connoisseurs, Tesseron always been sought after.

Tesseron is now run by the third and fourth generations of Tesserons. Alfred Tesseron is the third generation of Tesseron men with deep roots in the authentic traditions of cognac and wine production. He inherited the gift of creating elegant cognacs from his father, Guy Tesseron, having spent his youth in France, he worked in America for a leading US distributor, before contributing to one most successful Grand Crus in Paulliac, Medoc. Melanie and Justine are the fourth generations of Tesserons. Joining the family business in 2005, both having experience in the spirits industry.

The doors of the Tesseron home in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente lead to a unique collection of the finest cognacs. A treasure trove of spirit dating back to the nineteenth century when Abel Tesseron acquired the property to begin his priceless collection. A tradition kept alive by his son and grandson Alfred, who run the business and well as own the prestigious Château Pontet-Canet, a Pauillac Classified Growth in 1855.

Uniquely all three traditional Cognac grape varieties Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard are still grown on the Tesseron estates. The Folle Blanche and Colombard varieties have pretty much disappeared in the region, as they are challenging to cultivate and produce small crops, but these varieties add a valuable extra dimension to the final blend. The grapes are gathered during the long, warm, sunn y days of early autumn and fermented to produce a low strength, acidic wine of approximately 8% ABV.

The distillation is strictly overseen during October through March of the following year. The cognacs are double-distilled in gleaming copper 'pot' stills heated by a naked flame. Only the 'heart' of distillation makes it into the final Cognac. The Tesseron cellars —dating back to the 13th century— were once part of the crypt of the local church.

Here the young 'eaux-de-vie' is laid to rest, left to age quietly, maturing in old oak casks for many years. The casks are crafted from ancient oaks, felled in the nearby forests of Limousin. During maturation the cognac gently oxidizes, absorbing the soft tannins from the old oak casks.

Tesseron Cognacs have great complexity and depth, taking many years to develop, as the 'maître de chai' crafts a subtle blend of three grape varieties: Ugni Blanc (for roundness), Folle Blanche (for finesse) and Colombard for (strength and depth). Each cask and eau-de-vie variety imparts a special nuance to the final blend.

About Cognac

Cognac is a type of brandy produced in the Cognac region of France.
Because the French take it very seriously, there are numerous rules cognac makers have to follow not to fall “short” into the brandy category.

The white wine from the specific grapes (Ugni blanc) has to be doubly distilled in a copper pot still before being aged for at least two years in oak casks from which the wood can only come from two specific forests in France (Limousin or Tronçais).

Depending on the age, there are three types of cognac, the youngest V.S. (Very Special), V.S.O.P. (Very Superior Old Pale), and the X.O. (Extra Old)

About The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch #1 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch #1 was made by marrying together 42 of the finest casks — 35 traditional American Oak barrels and seven European oak sherry butts — from Balvenie’s aging stock. Each of the casks was hand-selected by David Stewart, who has served as Balvenie's Malt Master for the past five decades. “I’ve carefully considered each of the 42 whiskies in turn and they all bring something different to the table: combinations of spice, oak, delicacy and sweetness,” says David Stewart.

Once the whisky was blended together, Stewart rested it for several months in Tun 1509 — one the distillery's unique marrying vessels — to create a single malt that was greater than the sum of its already precious parts.

Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch #1 has a deep amber color and a rich nose filled with floral notes, orange peel, burnt sugar and vanilla. The palate is velvety smooth, containing notes of coffee, cinnamon, cloves and red fruits — particularly raisins and plums — and leads long, complex finish complete with oak and blossom honey.

About The Balvenie

Born into poverty in December 1839, William Grant became a cattle herder at the age of 7 in order to supplement his family's income. As a teenager, Grant apprenticed as a cobbler and a clerk, and in 1866, he joined Mortlach Distillery as a bookkeeper. For the next two decades, Grant managed the affairs at the distillery, while secretly learning the art of distillation. In 1886, he resigned from his position as distillery manager and bought a field beneath the towering shadows of Balvenie Castle, which he eventually converted into The Balvenie Distillery. Today, The Balvenie Distillery, situated in the Speyside region of Scotland, remains one of the most prestigious independent distilleries in all of Scotland.

The Balvenie Single Malt Whisky is made from fresh, plump barley grown on Balvenie Mains, a 1,000 acre farm situated adjacent to the distillery (the farm has been the distillery's source for barley for over a century). After the barley is harvested, it is malted at the distillery with spring water sourced from the rolling Speyside hills that overlook the distillery. During the malting process, the barley is turned up to four times a day in order to ensure that it germinates evenly (The Balvenie is the only single malt Scotch whisky distillery that continues to grow and malt its own barley).

Once the barley has been malted, it is milled and mashed at the distillery before being fermented using a proprietary strain of yeast. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled twice, first through Balvenie's copper-p ot wash still and then again through its copper-pot spirit still. "The most important reason for using a copper still," explains Dennis McBain, Balvenie's coppersmith, "is that it acts as a catalyst. It removes any sulphur which may be carried over from the fermentation process prior to distillation."McBain, who joined Balvenie Distillery in 1959, is one of the oldest coppersmiths remaining in the industry.

In addition, the size and shape of Balvenie's stills — the stills' necks have unique boil balls that are nicknamed "Balvenie Bowls"- results in Balvenie's signature bold and malty flavor profile. "The size and shape of the boil ball allow for the vapors to mix before continuing up the head," explains McBain. "That helps make The Balvenie special."

The Tun 1509 series from The Balvenie was a popular series that saw the release of 8 batches. Starting in 2014, Tun 1509 was born as a successor to Tun 1401, the first in the Tun range in which the fourth Malt Master David C. Stewart selects some of his favorite rare casks from the oldest warehouses. Stewart received his MBE from Queen Elizabeth II in 2016 for his services to the Scotch Whisky Industry. Tun 1509 Batch #4 had Stewart select 23 casks ― 13 American oak barrels and 10 European oak sherry butts from their most precious stocks. All of these were emptied into Tun 1509 in Warehouse 24, where they remained for several months, letting the aromas and flavors marry, before being bottled at 103.4 proof.

The use of wooden barrels to store and transport liquids dates back to 2690 B.C., when ancient Egyptians during the Early Dynastic Period began replacing clay vessels with wooden casks in order to meet the demands of their sprawling civilization. The advantages of wooden barrels were evident — not only were they less fragile than clay vessels, but their cylindrical shape allowed them to be rolled rather than carried across short distances. As settlers along the Nile quickly realized, however, barrels made from wooden staves imparted a unique color and flavor profile to the liquids stored within. The Classic Cask 40 Year Old Rare Scotch Whisky is a 40 year-old whisky that was blended together under the supervision of renowned Master Blenders David Hallgarten and Robert Mendelshon. Together, the pair sourced some of the finest whiskies in Scotland that had already aged for 15 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Once the whiskies were identified, they were blended together and put back in their original casks for an additional 25 years. After this quarter-century beautyrest, the whiskies were finished for six more months in casks that were previously used to mature Oloroso sherry. The Classic Cask 40 Year Old Rare Scotch Whisky has an incredible aroma of raisins, maple syrup, dates and warm spices. Notes of marzipan, figs, honeyed oak, red fruits and chili dominate the palate, and lead to a finish accented by hints of mint, oak and cherries. The whisky earned the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2014, where it was named "Best Blended Scotch 16 Years & Older"and "Best Blended Scotch Whisky." Dalmore Distillery 1974 Single Malt Scotch Whisky is part of the distillery's "Rare and Prestigious"collection. The whisky was distilled in 1974 and matured for approximately 32 years in casks that were previously used to mature bourbon. After its three-decade long beautyrest, the whisky was finished in a single, thirty-year old Matusalem sherry butt from the Gonzalez Byass for an additional four years. "Only the best selected American white oak cask is used during the maturation process," says Richard Paterson, Dalmore Distillery's Master Distiller, "but it is the unique Matusalem sherry butt from Gonzalez Byass that transforms it into something so rich and intense." The used sherry cask sourced from Spain contributes rich and opulent notes of raisins, caramelized orange, dates and figs to the whisky, and complement its notes of honeyed oak and cinnamon spice.

Dalmore Distillery 1974 Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a rich, copper-reddish color, along with an aroma of roasted nuts, peach, honey and brown sugar. The notes of dried fruits, figs, raisins, cherries and raspberries complement notes of cola, cinnamon and woody spices, and add to a long, balanced finish. The whisky earned the Platinum Medal at the International Review of Spirits, and earned a score of 99 points from the Beverage Testing Institute, which said that the whisky was "amazingly rich and vibrant"and was blessed with a "a deep, feminine soul."

About The Dalmore

Situated along the banks of Cromarty Firth in the Highlands region of Scotland, Dalmore Distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, who had earned his fortune illegally importing opium from the Far East. In 1886, Matheson sold Dalmore Distillery to Clan MacKenzie, whose century-long stewardship and defining influence over the distillery is still evident today — the 12-point stag adorned on every bottle of Dalmore Distillery Whisky is derived from Clan MacKenzie's coat of arms.

Dalmore Distillery Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from plump, golden barley sourced from the rich, coastal soils of the Black Isle. Once the barley has been harvested, it is milled and mashed before being fermented with water drawn from the Cromarty Firth. Prior to reaching the firth, however, the water travels from Loch Morie through a number of peat bogs and limestone quarries, and t hus, contributes a slightly mineral and chewy mouthfeel to the whisky.

Once the barley has been fermented, the wash is distilled twice, first through Dalmore Distillery's copper-pot wash stills and then again through its copper-pot spirit stills. The wash stills have an unusually flat top, while the spirit stills are equipped with cold water jackets. This unusual equipment — the water jackets rinse cold water near the top of the still — makes it difficult for the lighter elements of the whisky to pass through the still, and ultimately results in a more opulent and rich whisky.

The whisky is a unique assemblage of single malt whiskys that were originally matured in American white oak casks, and were ultimately finished in casks that previously used to mature Muscatel, Madeira and Port wine. The whisky has an aroma of warm, enticing honey, spices, pears and apples that give way to notes of crushed almonds, citrus fruits and cherries on the palate. The finish is exotic and spicy, with a touch of cloves and ginger.

About The First Edition 31 Year Old Port Ellen Single Malt Whisky

Situated along the Kildalton coast on the island of Islay, Port Ellen Distillery was founded in 1825 by Alexander Ker Mackay. At the time, the distillery became renown for its innovative and experimental techniques: it was the first distillery to incorporate Septimus Fox's spirit safe design into its distillation process, and was one of the first distilleries to trade directly with the United States.

Over the course of the 20th century, however, the distillery changed hands numerous times. In 1966, Port Ellen Distillery was reopened (it had been forced to close its doors as a result of Prohibition) and refurbished with four new stills heated by a mechanical coal stoker system. Although the distillery was forced to close its doors again in 1983 as a result of slumping demand, the whisky distilled in the 17 years between its re-opening and final closure has acquired a reputation as some of the finest to have ever been made.

The First Edition 31 Year Old Port Ellen Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in 1982 at the famed distillery and bottled in 2014. As a result of the unique, smoky peat used during distillation, the whisky has an intense and complex flavor profile. It has a sweet aroma of dried citrus, stone fruits and pepper that give way to notes of pears, apples, cinnamon, cloves and tart cherries on the palate, which are complemented with a subtle undertone of smoke and peat. The finish is constantly evolving, with hints of cloves, ginger, berries and oak tannins.

Bottled at cask strength in a stunning Glencairn crystal decanter, the whisky is enclosed in a rosewood box and includes two crystal glasses and a certificate of authenticity.

The Glenlivet 36 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Exclusive Malts Bottling) was distilled on November 5, 1976 and matured for over 13,000 days (36 years) in an oak cask (Cask # 18080). Following maturation, the whisky was bottled at cask strength by the Creative Whisky Company, an independent bottling company led by whisky expert David Stirk. "Each and every bottle comes with my personal guarantee that I have nosed, tasted and approved the cask of whisky that it came from," says Stirk.

The Glenlivet 36 Year Old Scotch Whisky (Exclusive Malts Bottling) has a woody, floral aroma, with hints of oak, dark herbs and wildflowers. The flavor is elegant and soft, with notes of ripe yellow fruit, apricots and hints of vanilla cream, which are complemented by subtle woody undertones and lead to a soft, delicate finish.

During the early 19th century, illegal distilleries were commonplace throughout the Speyside region of Scotland. In 1823, however, Alexander Gordon pushed the Excise Act of 1823 through Parliament. The Excise Act allowed illegal distillers throughout Scotland to apply for and obtain licenses to legally distill spirits. In 1824, a businessman named George Smith applied for one of the first licenses in the Speyside region of Scotland and opened the doors to The Glenlivet Distillery. For nearly two centuries, The Glenlivet Distillery has been producing the “single malt whisky that started it all.”

The Glenlivet Pullman 20th Century Single Cask, Single Malt Scotch Whisky was aged in a single European Oak cask filled in 1997. As a result, the single cask imparts much of its flavor unto the whisky. Notes of sweet honey and vanilla on the nose are followed by a hint of spring florals. The palate has robust citrus fruit and spicy notes of cinnamon and cloves balanced by sweet, fruity accents. The finish is long and dry with a subtle hint of spice.

About The Glenrothes

Situated adjacent to the Burn of Rothes in the Speyside region of Scotland, The Glenrothes Distillery was founded by in 1879 by James Stuart, who had previously been employed at The Macallan Distillery. The distillery's history is marred by tragedy — in 1897, construction workers who were attempting to expand the capacity of the distillery started a fire that consumed much of the distillery. Twenty-five years later, a fire at the distillery's original warehouse caused the loss of 200,000 gallons of maturing whisky. Despite having lost ten copper-pot stills in various accidents since its founding, the Glenrothes Distillery is now a picture of tranquility.

Glenrothes Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from plump, ripe Scottish barley that is malted and fermented using water sourced from the Ardcanny and Brauchhill springs, which are situated adjacent to the distillery. Following fermentation, the grains are twice distilled through the Glenrothes' copper-pot stills. The stills, which were designed and fashioned to be exact replicas of the original stills installed in 1879, are incredibly tall and uniquely shaped, which contributes to the overall light and sweet flavor of the whisky. After distillation, The Glenrothes' stillmen remove the heads and tails of the distillate and preserve only the "hearts"for maturation (the hearts comprise less than 20% of the entire distillate).

About Hakushu

In February 1899, Shinjiro Torii — the father of Japanese Whisky — opened a general store in Osaka, Japan, that traded in imported wines. Within a decade, Torii began producing his own sweet grape wine called Akadama Port Wine, which became wildly popular throughout the country. Following World War I, Torri — fascinated by whisky his entire life — decided to expand his business and began constructing the Yamazaki Distillery, Japan's first-ever whiskey distillery.

Fifty years after the construction of the Yamazaki Distillery, Keizo Saji inherited his father's vision and began construction of Suntory's second distillery. About The Lost Distillery Auchnagie Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

Auchnagie Malt Scotch Whisky is the first release from The Lost Distillery Company. It is a recreation of a single malt whisky produced at the Auchnagie Distillery, which was situated in the village of Tulliemet and operated from 1812 through 1912. The whisky has an aroma of earthy minerals, dried citrus (particularly peaches) and malted grains. The aroma gives way to round notes of creamy vanilla and fruits, which are complemented by undertones of peat, flowers and caramel. The finish is lingering and smooth, with a touch of smoke.

Once the malt whisky used to recreate the Auchnagie single malt has been married together, it is fiinaly prepared for the bottling. "While our ten key components are critical in determining the flavor profile of a whisky we recreate," says Moss, "it's just as important to recognize what wasn't in the whisky. A century ago, there was no such thing as chill filtration or caramel colouring of the final product. That's why we don't do either of these things today."

About The Lost Distillery

Over the past century, nearly one hundred malt whisky distilleries in Scotland have been permanently closed or destroyed. Most of these distilleries were lost as a result of macroglobal conditions, such as Prohibition, world wars or financial crises. As a result, many of the unique and venerable brands in the Scotch whisky industry were considered permanently lost — until now.

The Lost Distillery Company is an independent boutique Scotch Whisky company that is determined to create unique, modern expressions of the legendary whiskies that were distilled nearly a century ago. "We are obsessive about our craft and uncompromising when it comes to whisky quality," says Michael Moss, the distillery's Master Archivist. Moss is a Professor of Archival Science at the University of Glasgow and focuses on ten critical components in order to accurately recreate whiskies that were distilled nearly a century ago.

The ten critical components are the date of last distillation, the region within which the distillery was located, the distillery's water source, the distillery's barley source, the distillery's yeast source, the distillery's drying process, the di stillery's mash tun, the distillery's wash back, the distillery's still and the type of wood that was used to mature the whisky. Once these components are determined, Moss and his team of archivists and whisky makers marry together single malt whiskies from distilleries across Scotland in order to create a present day interpretation of that long lost whisky legend.
